Surgery Consulting Hours

When We Are Closed

Outside normal surgery hours, we provide cover for emergencies at all times, via the “Badger” deputising service.

If you are assessed as requiring a home visit, you will be visited by a fully qualified doctor, but he/she may not be part of our practice. Remember this is meant as an emergency service only; i.e. situations which cannot wait until the next surgery.

NHS Direct

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Temporary Residents

If you are a Temporary resident (ie. Not a registered patient) you will need to contact NHS Direct for Out of Hours Emergencies

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

URGENT CARE CENTRES

If you have a minor illness or injury you can also go to your local Walk-in Centre rather than A & E - you do not need an appointment. The centres provide advice and treatment by experienced nurses for a range of illnesses including cuts, sprains, burns, ear infections and emergency contraception.

 - Warren Farm Urgent Care Centre, Warren Farm Road, Kingstanding, B44 0PU - open every day over the holiday period from 8.00am to 7.00pm

 - Erdington Health & Wellbeing Walk in Centre, 196b High Street, Erdington, B23 6SJ open from 8.00am to  8.00pm -   365 days per year.

In an emergency, you might need to call 999 or go to your nearest A&E department.  Remember there is always extreme pressure on these services, so think first about whether your illness could be better treated by using one of the options above.  Unnecessary visits to A & E simply make waiting times longer and risk taking staff away from people who are very sick. 

PLEASE DO NOT GO TO A & E OR DIAL 999 UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.   These services are for patients who have suffered a serious injury or illness requiring immediate treatment.
